Speaking Engagements

I will go anywhere to speak provided expenses are paid and there is a budgeted honorarium. But get your orders in early, I'm already 1,656 years old!

In Richmond, VA, I appeared as the Thalhimers Department Store Santa for many years in the 1970’s & 80’s. When we merged the Thalhimers Santa Land with Miller & Rhoads Department Store, I continued for several years. Other organization for which I have appeared include: The Country Club of Virginia, Willow Oaks Country Club, Optimists Clubs, Rotary Clubs, Lion’s Clubs, numerous Garden Clubs, Churches and many other civic and community groups.

Two Types of Appearances:

1) Appearing as a friend of Santa - For children and adults. I factually answer the children's questions about Santa without dismantling the fantasy. At one point the children are sent off to do a project for Santa, then I talk to the parents about what actually happened to Santa and what the purpose of the custom is. For example: I explain why he moved to the North Pole in 1890; why his name was deliberately changed from Saint Nicholas to Santa Claus; why he was born literally December 6, 343 and cannot die. This presentation tends to be more straightforward with entertaining elements.

2) Appearing as Santa - For an occasion where there are adults and children, or just children, or just adults. "Santa" deliberately uses a great deal of double entendre so that everything expressed is factually correct while not adversely effecting the fantasy. This presentation covers much of the same material edged more towards entertainment.
