Magic Drums
This year Santa was more relaxed than usual. Once the annual run was completed we actually had time to talk about some of the changes that have occurred regarding gifts for children.
--------------------------0-----------------------------
There has been a marked difference in what children ask for over the years. There was a time when the simplest item coupled with imagination became a myriad of toys that filled a childs hours with fun. With the advent of technology and a more affluent society things have changed. Toys are no longer basic and thought provoking. Dolls no longer cuddle to the exclusion of all else. Now they walk, talk, crawl and perform a number of other bodily functions that I would rather not mention. I sometimes wonder where it will all end.
At the Pole we try to keep up with these trends even though on occasion it pains us to do so. Where children are involved we never lose sight of our objective. We want to develop and give gifts that children enjoy. But we prefer that those gifts impart some pain free learning.
One thing children have always asked for is a drum, a set of drums, a bugle, anything that makes noise. Since gifts given must always have the approval of parents there have been times when noisemakers have been "nixed." Many times adults are reluctant to approve of such a request because they can anticipate them being miss-used.
For that reason we developed the "Magic Line" of noisemakers and musical instruments. Take the "Magic Drum" for example. It looks like and a plays like any other drum but it has an extraordinary advantage. It can be played only if Mom, Dad or some other responsible adult is in agreement. If played in defiance of this rule, during the dark of night - it will disappear - never to return. This development has been tremendously successful. Adults, knowing how the product line works are more prone to approve of such a gift, and children who would not normally receive a noise maker at Christmas know that they can have one and keep it only if they follow the rules.

Youve got to admit it. Santa and his crew are pretty clever!
Until nest time,
