Random Acts of Kindness
Greetings from Santas Friend!
On July 1 we will be as far removed from Christmas as is possible. Christmas 2001 will be 182 days in the past and Christmas 2002 will be 183 days in the future. What better time could there be to think about keeping the spirit of Christmas alive all year long? I asked Santa for his thoughts. This is what he had to say.

During the build up to Christmas people enthuse about the feeling of good will, the displays of generosity. Often these remarks will be followed by some comment to the effect that it certainly is a shame we dont have the Christmas spirit all year long. And it is a shame. But for several years now a growing number of people have been trying to do something about it. They encourage people to perform "random acts of kindness" all year long. It can be most anything. When youre going through a tollbooth, you pay for the car behind you. If you think about someone out of your past that you liked or that pleased you, pick up the phone. Dash off a card. Let them know! If two of you are zeroing in on a parking space, dont fight it. Back off and smile.
Maybe you are walking down the street. You spot a parking meter that has run out of time. Drop in a dime. Give the owner a break.
Random acts of kindness normally work best if they are impulsive and secretive. The warm feeling you get is generally reward enough. But there is a bonus. The recipient of a "random act of kindness" often ends up wanting to do something nice for someone else - and does. Remember! Every act of kindness – random or otherwise- makes the world a bit better place in which to live and is an ideal way to keep the spirit of Christmas alive all year long.

At that point, it being July, Santa commented on the weather - Hot! - And headed North.
Ill be in touch next month.
