Santa’s Helpers

Greetings!

Last month Santa admitted that he had a lot of help from friends (read "Mom" and "Dad") when it came to consuming the thousands of tons of milk and cookies left out for him each year. This sparked further conversation and led to him explaining how he felt about the expression "Santa’s helpers."

Helping Santa does not make you a "Santa’s Helper." If you follow the rules it makes you a "Santa."

With approximately six billion ninety million people in the world there is no way I could do what I do, in the limited time allotted me, without help. But I really don’t like the expression "Santa’s Helpers." It’s misleading. Too often people who are "not in the know" will look up at me while I’m talking to one child and explain to the child with them that I am "just a helper." Nothing could be further from the truth!

The truth is this. On December 6th 343, the date I was born into Sainthood, I ceased being a person and became an immortal spirit. As a spirit I could no longer function as a person. Fortunately there were people who understood what I was trying to accomplish and wanted to perpetuate what I had been doing during my lifetime. These are the ones who started acting on my behalf and using my name. Over the centuries the idea caught on and spread. In time a whole new order was formed. People began to realize that anyone could be a "Santa Claus." All you had to do is follow two rules. Give or do simply because you loved. And secondarily, recognizing that people will try to repay you, which destroys your gift of caring by making it a transaction, you hide your identity by using my name.

It’s that simple. There really is a Santa Claus. In fact there are many of them.

You might say that as an entity, I am singular because I am plural.
