Thumper Principle

As a rule Santa is pretty stressed out by now. That was not the case this year. He was calmer, almost pensive. We were able to talk about the different ways you can show others you care during this Holy, wholly joyous time. There’s giving to those in need, fun presents for those without needs and Random Acts of Kindness that simple spread the Christmas spirit. In the course of conversation he brought up the "Thumper Principle." It’s such a nice concept I thought I’d pass it on as a sort of special Christmas present. In his words . . .

There is a scene in the movie Bambi where Mama Rabbit takes little Thumper to visit the newborn Bambi. When Bambi has difficulty getting up and moving around Thumper says "He don’t walk so good." Mother rabbit casts a look of exasperation at the sky and then hops on Thumper saying, "Thumper what did your father say just this morning? " Thumper, embarrassed, looks down, rolls his head from side to side and barely audibly says "If you can’t say something nice ’bout somebody, don’t say nuthin’ at all."

Santa believes you should go one step further. If you can say something nice, do it!

On more than one occasion, when he is talking to some attractive young lady, checking on her behavior during the preceding year I have overheard him say "You look pretty good to me." At his age - one thousand six hundred sixty this year - he can get away with it.

Have a Blessed, Merry Christmas!!!
